Biopic Pier Alessandro Garda.
Italian army lieutenant and a great admirer and collector of art, took part in the Napoleonic epic, the Piedmontese uprisings of 1821, the revolutionary movements in Spain and fought in the army of Simon Bolivar in Peru.
Garda inherited from his father the Samone Castle - also known as "Castle Garda" - and was the architect of the most dramatic changes to the property where since the mid-1800s, were hosted personalities of the aristocracy, culture and politics .
In Ivrea the Garda Museum houses the "Garda Collection", a large collection of Japanese lacquer and oriental art donated to the Museum by Pier Alessandro Garda itself towards the end of the nineteenth century.
